The carrom board is a square piece of plywood with holes in each corner where the carrom pieces are dropped. A half-inch wooden border surrounds the board, preventing the carrom piece and striker from falling out. The carrom is 76 cm square in shape.

 

It has a diameter of about 4.5 and a smooth upper surface that supports the pieces in reaching the hole drilled in the corner. There is a design vrat in the middle of the board where all of the pieces and queens are decorated. A strip with a length of 47 cm and a width of 3 cm is drawn around the board. Carrom requires very little material to play. There is only one striker. There are 9 – 9 pieces of two colors, plus a red-colored piece known as the queen. The carom's top surface contains powder that must be poured in order for the carom's top surface to remain smooth.

 

How to Play Carrom 

 

This game can be played in one of two ways: single or double (team). Before the game begins, the surface is smoothed by sprinkling powder over the board. Then, in the middle of the board, black and white-colored pieces are decorated in a circle, and white-colored pieces are placed in a Y shape.

 

During the fast, a red-colored goat, known as the queen, is kept. After that, the game begins, and the player who chooses the color of the piece moves to get only that color's piece. There is a striker in it from which the player hits the piece and gets it by putting it in the hole; one point is obtained for each piece scored, and there is a queen in it. To obtain this, you must first obtain the queen and then a goat.

 

If you are unable to obtain another piece after the queen, the queen is placed back in the center of the circle. There are 29 points in an inning, three of them are played, and one team must win in two innings. Finally, the player with the most points is declared the winner.

 

Rules of Foul: There are numerous foul rules in carom.

 

  • It is a foul if you strike by crossing the arrow on the side of the strike line.
  • In such a case, you must also call a foul if you drop the opposing player's chosen piece into the hole.
  • The law of fouls still applies if your striker falls into the striker's hole without touching a piece or with afoot.
  • If you make the piece reach the hole before the queen after all the pieces on the board has been taken by the players, you must give a foul.
  • If your striker goes out after crossing the wooden border, the player is still subject to the foul rule.
  • Aside from that, if your striker goes into the hole, the foul rule applies to you.
